How To Find Database Name Of Your WordPress Website

If you have created too many WordPress websites and you are now confused that which database belongs to which one then you have visited the right place. In this post i am going to tell you how you can find the database name of your WordPress website.

Not only database name, but by the end of this post you will be able to find your database username too.

Actually when we install WordPress via various auto installer apps provided by our hosts then most of the times they don’t ask us to set the database name or database username. Instead, they automatically generate them to save the installation time. So, if you have created too many websites then it becomes difficult to find which database belongs to which WordPress website.

If you are also stuck in the same situation where you are not able to find the database name or database username of your WordPress website then this post is going to help you out. Just follow the below steps to find your database name.

How To Find The Database Name Of Your WordPress Website ?

To find the Database name of your WordPress website, you first need to log in to your hosting account and then visit the cPanel.

In cPanel, simply find File Manager and click on it.

Once you click on the File Manager then select the Home Directory and click Submit button. Once you click the submit button then it will take you to a page where all your files are located.

Now look for public_html folder and click on it. Once you click this folder, you will be able to see various folders of your different websites.

Now, click on the website folder for which you are finding the database name. In my case i clicked the SlingshotsIndia Website folder. You can see the below screenshot for your convenience.

Inside your website folder look for wp-config.php file. Right click on this file and select the code edit.

Now a dialogue box will open up, just select edit as shown in below screenshot.

Once you click the edit tab a new window will open up. In this window you can find your database details.

If you are facing difficulty in finding your database name then press CTRL+F on your keyboard and type “define” in the search box. Your database name will be present in a code like this – define( ‘DB_NAME’, ‘adnetsre_0ed‘ );

The text in bold will be your database name. Just below it you can see your database username and password.
